Will I be sharing a room with my +1?
Yes, the expectation is that you’ll share a room with your +1 unless you have a special circumstance that has been discussed beforehand with the ExpensiCon team.
What should I pack?
This isn’t an exhaustive list, but the most critical items are: passport, any necessary visa paperwork, luggage tag (please add the one from us onto your suitcase to help with check-in!), laptop and charger, converters/adapters, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, swimsuit, and comfortable shoes for the cobblestones.
What’s the dress code?
The conference will be casual and comfortable. The fanciest we’ll get is awards night on Sunday, May 21, so if you’d like to dress up a bit - that’s the time for cocktail attire!
As a note, the temperatures in Puglia in May are comfortable with lows of 60°F (~16°C) and highs up to 71°F (~22°C).
What happens when I land at Bari airport (BRI)?
On May 18, after you grab any luggage and exit into the arrivals area, we’ll have plenty of signage and staff ready to take you directly to Borgo Egnazia. Transfers between Bari airport (BRI) and Borgo Egnazia (the hotel) will be pre-arranged for you based on your booking information.
If you’re taking a different route to the hotel on May 18, our team should already be in contact with you about arranging ground transport from your location, as long as it’s within a close enough radius. Otherwise, we’ll see you once you arrive on your own!
What expenses will Expensify cover on my journey to and from ExpensiCon?
We’ll cover reasonable expenses for the following:
Uber/Lyft/transport from home to your departure airport on the way to ExpensiCon, and Uber/Lyft/transport from your arrival airport to home after ExpensiCon ends.
Note: We’re already doing our best to pre-arrange transfers to and from Borgo for the start and end of ExpensiCon on May 18 and May 22, respectively. If you’re landing at BRI on May 18 and departing at BRI on May 22, your transportation will already be handled!
Meals on the way to and from ExpensiCon
Please submit all expenses via the ExpensiCon policy. As a general guide, we’ll say “you don’t need to go to McDonald’s, but please don’t order the caviar and Dom Pérignon.”
What time is check in/check out at Borgo?
While we’ll do our best to accommodate your arrival time, typically check-in is at 3pm and check out is at 11am.
What expenses will Expensify cover during ExpensiCon?
Rooms, food and beverage, entertainment, special events, exclusive swag, spa appointments, and more are included. However, anything purchased at Bottega Egnazia (the onsite Borgo store) will not be covered.
Where do I find the ExpensiCon policy?
Log into your Expensify account and you should see the policy under Settings > Policies > Group. To submit expenses under the policy, go to the “Reports” tab > New Report > Expense Report > Details > Policy > “ExpensiCon”. Then, add your expenses to that report and they’ll submit automatically for review, approval, and reimbursement!
Do you have a map of Borgo?
Yes! Here you go. It should have everything you need, and then some.
How do I book restaurant reservations, spa appointments, or other activities?
Reach out to Concierge in New Expensify or find a Borgo staff member onsite and they can help you out! In particular, we highly recommend booking any restaurant reservations for the night of Thursday, May 18 ahead of time. Book your reservations anytime after the welcome reception ends at 9pm, but note that food and drinks will also be available at the reception!
A note on spa appointments: We’re currently capping these at 1 visit, max 90 minutes per guest. No exceptions, thank you!
Are rental clubs available for golf?
Yes! They’re available, and we’ll cover the cost.
What will my +1 do during ExpensiCon?
Here are the events on the agenda that we’ll absolutely want your +1 to attend:
Thursday, May 18 - welcome reception at 7pm
Friday, May 19 - sunset beach party at 7:30pm
Saturday, May 20 - La Festa in the Borgo piazza at 7pm (after party optional, but highly suggested!)
Sunday, May 21 - excursions day and awards night
Beyond that, your +1 is more than welcome (but not required) to join any keynotes, sessions, or other conference programming on Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, the hotel has plenty to explore and enjoy, from pools and a gym to a world-class spa and activities such as golf and bike rides. Oh, and don’t forget the farm!
I want to use my phone in Italy, but my plan doesn’t support it. Can you help?
You’ll have plenty of great WiFi at Borgo during ExpensiCon. But outside of internet hotspots, you’ll need some extra data on your phone for obligatory selfies and chats amongst ExpensiCon attendees.
For that, before you leave for ExpensiCon, we recommend downloading the Airalo app and buying an eSIM for Italy. An eSIM is a digital SIM card that lets you avoid the hassle of switching out your phone’s physical SIM card for a temporary one while you’re on your trip. It allows you to do everything on your phone that requires an internet connection, minus calls. And don’t forget to use the ExpensiCon policy to expense it on us – you can always top up if you need more!
What if I want to stay at Borgo Egnazia before or after ExpensiCon?
We can provide a 20% discount code valid on certain room rates (bar rate and non-refundable rate) booked May 14-18 and May 22-27 (these are dates immediately before and after ExpensiCon).
The code is: EXPENSIFYBE23. To use it, go to the Borgo Egnazia website, select the dates of your stay, and add the code in the special line “promocode”. The code is valid until April 30, 2023.
Note: This discount is only applicable to guests who are attending ExpensiCon, and the code will be checked against each guest every time it’s used.
